Yesterday was May 5, 2012, which was not only National Scrapbooking Day, but also Cinco de Mayo. I wasn't sure if scissors would mix well with margaritas, but it turns out, you CAN mix margaritas with your scissors.
I was fortunate enough to attend (and in the process of STILL attending) a NSD crop that is sponsored by the Scrapbook Boutique out of Orlando. It is being held at the Florida Hotel Orlando, which is literally attached to the Florida Mall. The hotel itself is nice enough, great staff, wonderful food... But it just might be the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed it. Considering I am here to scrap, it's really not an issue.
The crop, however, was well executed. I had never been to the Scrappy Boutique store before and I had learned about the crop from another scrapper who hosts crops closer to my home. I had, though, heard wonderful things about the store from yet another scrapper.
The staff greeted us as we walked in. We were so excited to attend, that we may just have been the first group of scrappers to show up. We were, for excitable reasons, at least 10 minutes earlier than the scheduled 8:00 am start time. It really didn't matter, they were more than ready for us.
Their theme was "Up, up and away". Each table had a large wooden paper clip with lovely motif that stated out table number. At each table spot was a bag of goodies waiting for us plus a cup that was fashioned in to a hot air balloon. The air balloon cups held assorted candies. Yum!
In addition, they had a hot balloon set up in which you could take pictures of yourself if. It was really well done.
They had an onside mini store, which wasn't so mini. They had new, beautiful lines which I had not seen before. They had paperpacks, single sheets, ribbons, rub ons, thickers, bling, bling and even more bling. They had some really cute $10 page kits as well.
If you weren't happy with the supply on hand, their store was literally in the same parking lot, less than a mile away from the mall.
They are holding a raffle today that includes a $50 gift certificate along with many, many bags of secret Scrapbooking loot. You received two tickets just for attending the crop and have opportunities to earn more tickets throughout the entire crop. I think I have earned at least 9, and that doesn't include the extra ones waiting for my individual purchases. I received 6 for making "flair" from the make and take. They included two, white! Chipboard circles and you could do what ever you wished with them, you got three tickets for making anything and another three if you used some of your goodies bag stash.
There are only soooo many hours left to scrap... It mig make sense for me to stop blogging and start cropping. Hopefully I can post some pictures of this exciting trip.
